After a complicated day of travel yesterday from Heraklion to Provence (taxi, plane, bus, train, hire car), leaving at 7:30, we finally arrived at our familiar “second home” in Provence late yesterday afternoon. We were up early to get to the Sunday market at the picturesque village of L’Isle-sur-la-Sourge, less than 20km away, before 8:30 – an absolute must! In season, we found a wide variety of courgettes (Zuccini) and an amazing array of farm fresh tomatoes and new season onions. Loaded with our treasures, a slab of Comte cheese and some local wine, we retired to the kitchen to make a courgette gratin (pictured) and collapsed feeling very full indeed!
