Homeward Bound

So, here we are at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris waiting for our flight home. Hard to believe. Our time in Dijon was simply great. We walked the Owl Trail (Parcours de la Chouette), a meandering walking route through Dijon’s historic centre, marked by bronze owl arrows set into the pavement and leading to 22 points of interest. The name chouette – pronounced roughly “shwet” in English – means “owl,” a bird that has become Dijon’s emblem thanks to the small, much-loved stone owl carved into Notre-Dame church in the late 15th century. And Shwet we did – it was very hot. An added bonus was seeing a total eclipse late yesterday afternoon. I’ve often heard it said that a change is as good as a holiday – I beg to differ!
